MILTON STRING QUARTET (Canada) Winner of the Gold Medal
and the Grand Prize of the 2017 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition,
the Milton quartet was formed in 2015 at the Schulich School of Music of McGill
University where they work under the tutelage of professor André J. Roy. In
addition to performing at University events, the quartet has enjoyed a wide
variety of musical engagements in Montreal including their debut at the Lakeshore
Chamber Music Society. The Milton String Quartet is also the
winner of the 2016 McGill Chamber Music Competition and of the 2017 Encore
Chamber Music String Quartet Fellowship. To highlight their exceptional accomplishment at the Fischoff competition, MISQA is happy to offer the Milton Quartet the first part of the Grand Concert of Friday August 25th.
ROLSTON STRING QUARTET (Canada) – First Prize winner of the 2016 Banff International String Quartet Competition, the Rolston Quartet has also won First Prize at the 31st Chamber Music Yellow Springs Competition, Third Prize at the inaugural M-Prize Competition, and the Durosoir Prize at the 2016 Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition. Formed in 2013 as the Graduate Quartet-in-Residence at Rice University, the Rolston Quartet has collaborated with renowned artists like Andrés Díaz, Gil Kalish, Mark Morris, Donald Palma and Jon Kimura Parker. Additionally, the group has worked closely with composers John Luther Adams and Brian Current.
The group takes its name after Canadian violinist Thomas Rolston, the founder of the Music and Sound Programs at the Banff Centre.
