Mathieu Herzog

Biography

Violist, conductor, composer, arranger, Mathieu Herzog is a founding member of the Quatuor Ebène, winner of the « Concours International de Bordeaux » and of the ARD competition in Munich, ensemble with which he has performed in some of the most prestigious venues in the world.
With this extensive experience and further to years of close collaboration and tutelage by Mitsuko Uchida, Gyorgy Kurtag, and Menahem Pressler, Mathieu decided in 2014 to devote himself to conducting and was awarded First Prize at the London Classical Soloist Orchestra Competition in London and the “édito musica” prize in Budapest. Working alongside Semyon Bychkov earned him an immediate invitation to become his assistant.
A devoted teacher, Mr. Herzog works with many young quartets who have been awarded several prizes at international competitions.
