Founded in 2019 at the Royal Danish Academy of Music under Professor Tim Frederiksen, AKELA has explored quartet repertoire with curiosity and presence across European festivals, masterclasses, competitions, and concerts.
Now enrolled in the Advanced Postgraduate Programme at RDAM, they study with Frederiksen and the Danish String Quartet. Lifelong friends, the four members share a deep musical and personal bond. AKELA performs a wide range of concerts—from school and nursing home performances to major Danish halls.
In 2023, they joined MERITA, a European initiative redefining concert experiences. The quartet received the Leonie Sonning Talent Award in 2024 and the Carl Nielsen Talent Award in 2023. Prizewinners of multiple competitions, AKELA has also studied with Hatto Beyerle, Johannes Meissl, and the Jerusalem Quartet.
