Winner of the Grand Prize of the 2013 ASIA-PACIFIC competition, the Amber Quartet thus became the first Chinese quartet to win an international chamber music competition.
Formed in 2005 at the Beijing Central Conservatory of Music, the quartet studied with professors Chen Yun and Yu Bing and have soon established itself as the leading young ensemble of its generation in China.
As the first chamber music group with Chinese government funding for their overseas studies, the quartet is currently enrolled at the Queen Sofia’s Superior School of Music of Madrid under the tutelage of professor Günter Pichler. Their outstanding performance abilities has led conductor Lorin Maazel to describe them as a “remarkable ensemble”.
