Founded in April 2019 at the University of Music and Theatre Munich, the HANA Quartet takes its name from a word meaning “flower” in Japanese and “unity” in Korean, reflecting the origins of its members. The ensemble has studied with members of the Quatuor Ébène, Heime Müller, and Günter Pichler, and is mentored by Eberhard Feltz. Prizewinners at major international competitions, they received second prize at the 2023 Geneva Competition, third prize at the 2023 Carl Nielsen Competition, and a special prize at the 2022 ARD Competition.
From 2025 to 2027, the quartet will be Ensemble-in-Residence at ProQuartet in Paris, marking a significant step in its international development.
