Winner of the 1st Prize at the 2009 Basel Orchester Gesellschaft Competition and of the 2009 Concours Villa Musica, the Iris Quartet was formed in 2005 at the University of Freiburg where they studied with Walter Levin, Sebastian Hamann, Oliver Wille and Latica Hinda-Rosenberg. They have performed at prestigious concert series and festivals throughout Europe and Asia such as the Beethoven String Quartet cycle at the “Società del Quartetto di Milano” in Italy, the Villa Musica Foundation of Rheinland Pfalz, Germany, Les Muséiques, in Basel, Switzerland and the “Pacific Music Festival” in Japan where they studied and performed with the Tokyo String Quartet. The Iris Quartet plans to release their first CD in the fall 2011 with works of Brahms and Kurtág.
