The Salzburg-based Quartet KAIRI studies under Rainer Schmidt and Cibrán Sierra Vázquez at the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg. Formed during their studies at Tokyo College of Music with Saiko Azuma, the quartet performed at the Mozartwoche Festival with the Salzburg Marionette Theatre and won first prize at the “Premio Annarosa Taddei” Competition in Rome.
Earlier achievements include second prize at the 2017 Japan Classical Music Competition. They’ve performed at the Fuji Mountain Music Festival with Peter Schmidl and attended masterclasses with Günter Pichler and Jonathan Brown. Supported by the Meigakudō Music Foundation, the quartet’s name “Kairi,” meaning “sea mile” symbolizing their mission to cross borders through the universal language of music.
