Biography

Grand Prize winner of the 2025 Fischoff Competition, the Katarina String Quartet was formed in 2022 at McGill University under the tutelage of André Roy.  Currently the Graduate Resident String Quartet at The Juilliard School, the Katarina String Quartet has quickly become one of North America’s leading young ensembles. The KSQ explores a wide range of chamber music, from classical to contemporary and folk arrangements.

They’ve worked with members of the Juilliard, Alban Berg, Danel, Dover, and Pacifica Quartets. In 2024/2025, KSQ tours Canada and Europe, debuts at Carnegie Hall and CMS Kids, and holds a residency at the Highlands-Cashiers Festival. Past festivals include IMS Prussia Cove and MISQA. Semi-Finalists at the 2025 Wigmore Hall Competition, they won Gold and BIPOC prizes at the 2024 St. Paul Competition.

Named after Katarina Guarneri, KSQ honors hidden contributors to classical music through community-focused concerts and Juilliard’s Gluck Fellowship.
