Moser String Quartet was born in 2020 from love and interest for chamber music and a will to bring string quartet music closer to the public.
The Quartet is based in Basel (Switzerland) and studies at the Hochschule für Musik Basel, receiving lessons from internationally renowned musicians: Rainer Schmidt (Hagen Quartet), Silvia Simionescu (Gringolts Quartet), Anton Kernjak, Anna Gebert and Geneviève Strosser.
After only two years since their path started, Moser String Quartet has been awarded 1st Prize ex aequo in the international competition Gran Premi Musical Lauredià (Andorra) and 2nd Prize ex aequo in Orpheus Swiss Chamber Music Competition (Switzerland).
In May 2023 Moser received the Special Award “Ambassador Ensemble of the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition 2023” in Japan (Osaka). Later on in September 2023, the Quartet is selected to participate in Concours de Gèneve (Switzerland).
The young quartet has taken part in several Masterclasses in Italy, Germany, England, Switzerland, Spain and Netherlands, such as Accademia Musicale Chigiana (Siena, Italy), ICMC Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland (Weikersheim, Germany), IMS Prussia Cove (Prussia Cove, England), Swiss Chamber Academy (Geneva, Switzerland), SICC Ciudad de Guadix (Guadix, Spain), ECMA Sessions and Rencontres Musicales Camerata Lysy (Château-d’Oex, Switzerland), studying with musicians such as Casals Quartet, Heime Müller (Artemis Quartet), Günter Pichler (Alban Berg Quartet), Anthony Marwood, Cibrán Sierra (Quiroga Quartet), Bruno Giuranna, Patrick Jüdt, Johannes Meissl and Jana Kuss (Kuss Quartet), among others.
In addition, Moser String Quartet has also been invited to Festivals such as Trame Sonore CMF (Mantua, Italy), Roero Cultural Events (Cuneo, Italy), Musikdorf Festival (Ernen, Switzerland), Swiss Chamber Music Festival (Adelboden, Switzerland) and MonteLeón International Chamber Music Festival (León, Spain).
At the Hochschule für Musik Basel, the Quartet also had the opportunity to receive advice from prestigious musicians such as Steven Isserlis, Péter Nagy, Eberhard Feltz and Tabea Zimmermann.
Their perseverance and enthusiasm have led the Moser Quartet to debut at Stadtcasino Basel (Switzerland), to perform together with the clarinettist Pablo Barragán in Mantua (Italy) and to have a première performance of “We are ___” by Verena Weinmann, which was composed for Moser String Quartet. Since 2021, the quartet has been part of Le Dimore del Quartetto Network and has also recently joined the MERITA platform.
