Biography

First prize winner of the 2016 Yellow Springs Competition, the Rolston Quartet also won the “Prix Durosoir” at the 2016 Bordeaux International String Quartet competition.
Formed in 2013 and currently Graduate Quartet-in-Residence at Rice University under the guidance of James Dunham, Norman Fischer and Kenneth Goldsmith, the quartet takes its name after Canadian violinist Thomas Rolston, the founder of the Music and Sound Programs at the Banff Centre. Notable collaborations include performances with renowned artists Andrés Díaz, Gil Kalish, Jon Kimura Parker and Miguel da Silva.
The Rolston Quartet is an official selection of the 12th Banff International String Quartet Competition (August 29 -September 4, 2016).
