First Prize winner of the 2016 Banff International String Quartet Competition, the Rolston Quartet has also won First Prize at the 31st Chamber Music Yellow Springs Competition, Third Prize at the inaugural M-Prize Competition, and the Durosoir Prize at the 2016 Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition.First Prize winner of the 2016 Banff International String Quartet Competition, the Rolston Quartet has also won First Prize at the 31st Chamber Music Yellow Springs Competition, Third Prize at the inaugural M-Prize Competition, and the Durosoir Prize at the 2016 Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition.
Formed in 2013 and Graduate Quartet-in-Residence at Rice University, the quartet has collaborated with renowned artists Andrés Díaz, Gil Kalish, Mark Morris, Donald Palma and Jon Kimura Parker. Additionally, they have worked closely with composers John Luther Adams and Brian Current.
The quartet takes its name after Canadian violinist Thomas Rolston, the founder of the Music and Sound Programs at the Banff Centre.
The Rolston will be playing in Pollack Hall on August 18 & 25 at 7PM
