Grand Prize Winner of the 2013 Bordeaux International Competition, the Schumann Quartet also won 1st prize at the 2012 Schubert Competition in Graz and the 2nd prize at the 2010 Osaka International Chamber Music Competition.
Formed in Cologne in 2007, the quartet studies under the guidance of the Alban Berg Quartet with further instruction from Günter Pichler at the Queen Sofia College of Music of Madrid. Other teachers and mentors are Harald Schoneweg, Heime Müller, Eberhard Feltz, Miriam Fried and Henk Guittart. Since 2009, the quartet is Artist in Residence at the Robert Schumann Auditorium in Düsseldorf.
The Schumann Quartet is an official selection of the 11th Banff International String Quartet Competition (August 26 -September 1, 2013).
